The Ashtons Charitable Trust aims to support charities and worthy causes which are:
- local to the Ashtons Legal offices in Bury Edmunds, Cambridge, Ipswich, Leeds, Diss and Norwich.
- supported by members of Ashtons Legal and Heslop & Platt staff
- supported by Ashtons Legal clients
- charity clients of Ashtons Legal.
For a number of years, our staff have nominated and voted to support a number of charities on an annual basis.
There have also been a number of small local charities who have been successful in obtaining funds for specific projects. In 2022, these were:
- Fresh Start, New Beginnings
- Star Throwers
- Caring Together
- Something to look forward
- Tom’s Trust
- Fulfil the wish.
Please note we are unable to support requests that are unsolicited. The Trustees receive a lot of applications which do not meet their criteria, so please do take the time to consider whether your project falls into any of the categories outlined above before submitting your application form.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee which is made up of Ashtons Legal staff from across the firm, assess donation requests once a year in December and make recommendations to the Trustees – who are three Partners from Ashtons Legal. If your application is successful, you will be notified shortly after the meeting has taken place. If your application is unsuccessful you will be informed within four weeks of the meeting.
If you have applied and been unsuccessful we ask that you do not reapply for at least two years.
Applications for donations should be submitted by 30 November 2023.
